What do we mean by ageing?
It is not easy to face up to your own ageing. Here we start to think about what ageing means, or has meant, to you. Though we like to pretend otherwise, life tells the real story.
-
Discovering God's purpose for your ageing
What might God require of us in our old age? We explore biblical themes to see how God is changing us through times of testing and times of fruitfulness.
-
Praying for healing in the frailty of old age
We explore the changing perspectives on healing and healthcare when we are living with frailty. Is this sharing in Christ’s sufferings, and how might God redeem such times?
-
Giving and receiving care
There is a huge need for care of those living with frailty today. Historically, Christians have responded to this need, but in this session we explore the often conflicting pressures from both theological and practical perspectives.
-
Dementia and Personhood
This session seeks to address some of the theological questions raised by severe dementia – where is our soul? Is our humanity or faith diminished by a failing brain?
-
Dying Well
Contemplating our own mortality is hard, and yet the debate around euthanasia has forced many to do so. Our course ends with highlighting 6 attitudes we might cultivate in our late life pilgrimage, which were exemplified by Christ, and described in the ancient Ars Moriendi.
